Malone has one year remaining on a four-year, $66 million deal that will pay him $19.25 million next season, and he and his agent, Dwight Manley, are expected to approach Miller this summer about adding another couple of years. But Miller told Salt Lake City's Fox News in early May that "Personally, I think it's too soon to talk to him about an extension. I think we need to see what Karl does next year."
That's the first time that anyone in the Jazz front office has publicly expressed doubts about Malone's future, the two-time MVP noted.
"I was disappointed that he would say that in the media," said Malone, who added he has not spoken to Miller since that interview. "If you're going to say something like that, tell it to me, don't go to the media."
