John Stockton has decided to take a journey where no one else has ever ventured. The Jazz are thrilled to be coming along for the ride.

The future Hall of Famer informed Jazz owner Larry Miller and the team's front office Wednesday that he will fulfill his contract and play a 19th season beginning this fall -- becoming the second guard in NBA history to open a season after his 40th birthday, and the first to do so as a major contributor to his team. Like Nolan Ryan, Gordie Howe and George Blanda, Stockton will make sports history every time he enters a game.
