Mike Fisher of RealGM affiliate DallasBasketball.com, is reporting that the Dallas Mavericks have signed Bucks free agent guard Michael Redd to an offer sheet and now must wait a maximum of 15 days to find out if he will be a Maverick for certain.  This is the time frame allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Milwaukee Bucks to match.

The Mavericks are also in a similar position, Fisher is reporting, after the Los Angeles Clippers signed Wang ZhiZhi to an offer sheet.  Dallas owner Mark Cuban is on record as saying he will not let ZhiZhi leave without compensation just as the Bucks have said about Redd, but Milwaukee may be unwilling to pay the luxury tax on the sharp-shooting guard.

The offer sheet, submitted for Redd late last night, is believed to be slightly less than the $4.5 million mid-level exception.  With both teams in luxury tax waters one team will be paying much more than they bargained for in order to own his services.  As Mike Fisher writes 'Is he a $9 million player? He is now. Either as a Mav or as a Buck.'
