The Associated Press reports: The Orlando Magic waived guard Omar Cook on Friday.

In two preseason games, Cook had seven points, three assists and two steals in 13 minutes.

The Magic originally selected Cook in the second round of the 2001 draft, then traded him to Denver to satisfy the conditions of a previous trade.

Last season, Cook played in 35 games with Fayetteville of the National Basketball Development League. He averaged 12.2 points and an NBDL-leading 7.8 assists. Cook played one season at St. John's before declaring himself eligible for the draft.

This cuts Orlando's roster down to 17 players.
