Steve Popper of the New York Times reports that Latrell Sprewell has returned to the Knicks? fold, but all is not well.

Sprewell met with Knicks GM Scott Layden, coach Don Chaney and Madison Square Garden executive Steve Mills yesterday. Afterward, Sprewell was given permission to join the team, ending his banishment, which had been in effect since Oct. 7.

Sprewell will still contest the $387,500 in fines levied by the team after his failure to report a broken hand over the summer. When asked if the team?s discipline had any affect, he answered "I think it was just chaos. I don't think it really accomplished anything."
