How much is Jazz coach Jerry Sloan going to rely on his new guys?
How about this: Down the stretch of the fourth quarter Saturday night in Utah's 101-92 victory over the Warriors, he left newcomers Matt Harpring and Calbert Cheaney on the floor with Karl Malone, John Stockton and, in a mild surprise, Scott Padgett.
Three games into the season, and it's already obvious that Harpring, Cheaney and backup point guard Mark Jackson are going to play key roles on this team.
The decision to keep Harpring out there should have come as no surprise, if you watched the first three quarters. This is a guy who demands to be on the court, with his hustle, effort and desire.
Only 6-foot-7, he grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, including a game-high seven on the offensive glass. He scored 13 points, handed out five assists and played 31 minutes, second only to Malone.
