Winter has come to Canada already, and also to the Jazz's season. The question for today is: Which will thaw first?

An afternoon matinee with the Raptors in the Air Canada Centre (1:30 p.m., KJZZ) completes the Jazz's five-game foray into the Eastern time zone, a trip that has yielded one win so far and dropped Utah's record to 3-7 -- its worst start since John Stockton and Karl Malone joined the team.

It would be easy to write off the slow start as a product of the schedule or point out that a victory today in snowy Toronto would allow the Jazz to match their 4-7 record of a year ago, a season that ended in the playoffs. "Heck, if you wanted to, you could find all kind of excuses," Malone shrugged after it was pointed out that Toronto will be the Jazz's league-high eighth road game of the season, while only three other NBA teams have played as many as six. "But we know it's us not doing what we need to."
