He didn't pull the pin on the ol' hand grenade line, thank goodness.
But horseshoes, go figure, did crop up in conversation Friday when coach Jerry Sloan was discussing his lack of satisfaction with the Jazz's first-round NBA playoff series effort against the Sacramento Kings last season.
"That don't mean a thing," said Sloan, whose Jazz meet the Kings tonight for the first time since Sacramento won a closer-than-most-expected series with Utah last April.
"If that's what you play basketball for ? just to be close ? then why play it? You can go play horseshoes or something," Sloan added. "You know, in horseshoes (closeness) counts. Basketball, being close ? you don't get anything."
