Karl Malone, whose vivid imagination has turned a handful of critics into a legion, misses the point.
In case you were lucky enough to avoid it, Malone went on one of his semi-regular rants a couple days ago. While acknowledging a shooting slump, he feels his other contributions have been overlooked.
He thinks the fact he makes only a few bucks less than the next three highest-paid Jazzmen combined is warping people's judgment, causing them to expect more from him than is reasonable.
Sometimes this is too easy. Sometimes a guy offers a line of illogic that even a junior-high age fan could see through.
So I'm going to resist. I'm not going to point out that with the big bucks come big expectations, that "other contributions" mean diddly when the team is losing four in a row, including three at home, that a guy who touches the ball as often as Malone is counted on to score consistently.
