The New York Knicks were hoping for a big man who could plan when they owned their $4.5 million disabled players exception but they were unable to find anyone who they believed fit the bill through free agency.  Could their luck finally have changed?

With the NBA recently re-instating ex-Sixer Stanley Roberts the Knicks may have targeted their guy... but the question remains can he still play?

Roberts was banned from the NBA in 1999 after testing positive to drugs.  According to Marc Berman of the New York Post the Sixers hold his rights and have 30 days to offer him a contract, otherwise Roberts becomes a free agent.

"It's something we'd have to meet about," Chaney said when asked if the Knicks have interest.

Roberts' agent, Brian Parker, has targeted the Knicks in the East and Memphis in the West as teams Roberts can help as a big body off the bench.

"I was at the game Antonio McDyess injured himself against Phoenix [in October] and I thought to myself, if and when Stanley got reinstated the Knicks would be a team he'd fit in," Parker told The Post.
