The rule changes last season legalizing the zone defense in the NBA didn't garner much support from the Jazz, one of the few teams voting against the switch.

Coach Jerry Sloan believed the zone encourage teams to launch lower-percentage shots from perimeter rather than working for better shots inside, something he felt was bad for the game.

But that doesn't mean he's beyond using a zone himself sometimes, if that"s what the rules permit.
