A bevy of helpful readers correctly pointed out after my column on the Jerry Sloan ref-shoving incident earlier this week that I mistakenly wrote it was the Jazz coach's first such offense.
By now everyone ? including me ? recalls that Sloan was suspended for a similar incident in 1993.
That doesn't change my sentiments, however. It doesn't make it any less true that at least part of the blame for an increasing number of ugly incidents involving officials has to be laid on the league.
And a seven-game suspension for Sloan was far too harsh.
