Chris Broussard reports that Layden offered Charlie Ward and Kurt Thomas to the Seattle SuperSonics today for Gary Payton, according to high-ranking officials with three different teams. There were other minor parts included in the proposal, but the major components were Ward, Thomas and the 34-year-old Payton.

Seattle, whom the Knicks visit on Wednesday, did not hesitate in balking at the offer.
