The pillars of the Jazz franchise -- John Stockton and Karl Malone -- tend to forget a missed shot by the time that brick caroms off the rim and onto the floor. Stockton, in particular, dismisses his goof-ups almost instantaneously, looking only ahead, always ahead. Malone's, if they come in bulk in pressure situations, at times, combine to betray him. One blown free throw begets another and another . . . and, next thing, he's Mel Counts.
