Over objections from his college and AAU coaches, N.C. State sophomore Josh Powell has entered the NBA draft.
Powell, 6-foot-9, 230 pounds, has until June 19 to withdraw with his college eligibility intact. Only players who pay their way to draft camps and don't sign with an agent can withdraw.
"Obviously he needs to listen to coach (Herb) Sendek, who's telling him he needs more time," said Norman Parker, Powell's AAU coach with the Georgia Stars. "I've also tried to tell him he needs another year under his belt. I'm not (a part of) his brain trust, but it's clear he's getting some bad information."
Wolfpack coach Sendek said Powell would be welcomed back if he decided to withdraw.
