On a gray day in Jersey for the Celtics - on both weather and basketball fronts - Paul Pierce got some good news when he was named third-team All-NBA for the second straight season.

Pierce was named to the squad as a forward, netting 91 points in the voting system. He is the first Celt since Larry Bird in 1987 and 1988 to make the All-NBA team in consecutive years.

``I'm a little surprised actually, because I didn't think I had that type of year,'' he said. ``But it is always an honor to be recognized as one of the best players in the league.''
