The ball might be in Jeff Van Gundy's court.
The former New York Knicks head coach withdrew his name from consideration from the Philadelphia 76ers job search Thursday, indicating he might be closer to making a decision about his future.
According to NBA sources, Van Gundy is the Cavaliers' top choice to be their coach. He is also one of the candidates in the Houston Rockets' coaching search. Larry Brown and Mike Dunleavy are the others.
In an interview Thursday, Van Gundy said that the Philadelphia job ``wasn't a good fit'' and that he was only ``50-50'' about his desire to coach in the league next season. He interviewed with the Rockets on Monday, the Cavaliers on Tuesday, and spoke with 76ers General Manager Billy King on Wednesday.
The Cavaliers met with Paul Silas on Thursday, completing their latest round of interviews.
