As the Nets prepare for their second straight appearance in the NBA Finals, teams around the league are taking a close look at some in their organization.
Portland has asked for permission to interview Nets director of scouting Ed Stefanski for its vacant GM job, according to a source. With several teams looking at Nets assistant Eddie Jordan ? Philadelphia has asked for permission to speak to him about its vacant head coaching position ? the Nets could have many new faces next year. And that doesn't include any new players ? Jason Kidd, Lucious Harris and Brian Scalabrine all will be free agents this summer.
Stefanski is Nets president Rod Thorn's right-hand man. He has helped Thorn draft the likes of Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins and Scalabrine. Because of the Nets' success, Stefanski's name has been discussed for the Washington GM opening but the Wizards have yet to call for permission to interview him.
Jordan's name has also been linked with the Wizards. Thorn said he has gotten several "inquiries" about him in recent days, but would not reveal any specifics.
