The NBA Draft isn't until June 26, but the Mavericks already have their sights set on possibly selecting a high school player to help beef up their inside game.
The Mavericks are closely monitoring Kendrick Perkins and James Lang with the possibility of taking one of the high school players with the 29th pick, the last selection of the first round.
Perkins, 6-foot-10, 285 pounds, has led Beaumont Ozen to the past three Class 4A state championship games. Lang (6-11, 305) is from Central Park Christian in Birmingham, Ala.
The Mavericks have scouted Perkins, who declared his eligibility for the draft last month but also has committed to the University of Memphis.
