Put away the brooms, San Antonio.

The Spurs hit the first bump in the road to glory Friday night, losing to the New Jersey Nets 87-85 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

That evens the best-of-seven series.

The Nets, who had trouble finding the basket at the beginning of the game, quickly became assertive. Their trademark fast-break points, which weren't so evident in Game 1, made their debut in Game 2.

The Spurs started to come back toward the end of the third quarter, but by that time the Nets had inflated their lead by as many as 15 points.

Both teams played aggressively in the fourth quarter, with the Spurs making a dramatic comeback and the sold-out crowd of 18,797 on their feet.

But the comeback fell short after Jason Kidd hit a jumper with 1:16 left to put the Nets up 82-79; he added five free throws in the last 19 seconds as the Spurs were forced to foul.
