During the regular season, Richard Jefferson shot a team-high 436 free throws, 33 more than the next Nets player, Jason Kidd. Getting to the foul line is what Jefferson feels gets his game in motion.

In three NBA Finals games, a span of 111 minutes on the court, Jefferson has yet to attempt a free throw. This statistic has led some of his teammates to give the second-year forward this advice: Stop the obsession with getting fouled.

"I think he's trying too hard to get to the basket and get fouled in certain situations," Kenyon Martin said yesterday.

The Nets trail 2-1 in the series and Jefferson is definitely one reason why, as he's shooting 35.5 percent from the floor and averaging a mere 9.7 points. "We have to get [Jefferson] just to relax," Kidd said. "I think he's pressing and maybe forcing things."
