Timberwolves Vice President Kevin McHale was certain of at least one thing last week.

"At 26, there will be a guy I like," McHale said.

But the Wolves are still uncertain who that guy will be.

With the NBA draft just a week away, the Wolves have narrowed their list to four or five prospects they hope will be available by the time they select 26th in the first round Thursday night.

Rob Babcock, vice president of player personnel, said the Wolves want an athletic, defensive-minded swingman with their first first-round pick since 1999. But if a more talented player is available, he would do.
