Unlike many of the new millionaires minted in the first round of the NBA draft Thursday, Central Michigan center Chris Kaman won't be shopping for an expensive car.
Kaman swears he'll continue to drive his 1996 GMC Yukon for at least three years. Money, he says, is of little importance.
That's not the only difference between Kaman, expected to be among the first 13 picks, and his soon-to-be NBA colleagues.
As a freshman and sophomore for Central Michigan, Kaman was a role player on good teams headlined by David Webber, the younger brother of Sacramento Kings star Chris Webber.
But his relative obscurity ended in December, when he torched Big Ten foe Michigan for 30 points and 21 rebounds. It sent NBA scouts scrambling to find out more about the surprisingly nimble 7-0, 255-pound Kaman.
