It was good to see Kevin McHale and Flip Saunders excited again instead of merely faking it for the cameras. Of course, they've gotten the act down so well the past three years I can't tell if they really mean it.

But they appeared happy enough after drafting high school player Ndudi Ebi in the first round Thursday night. That's pronounced N.D.E.B. I finally memorize the spelling of Szczerbiak and the Wolves draft a guy named Ndudi.

When Ndudi grows up, he supposedly will be a great help to the team. Right now, he's still getting burped after eating his strained carrots.

It seems odd that a team in need of immediate help selects a high school player several growth spurts and back molars away from making a significant contribution. According to McHale and Saunders, there was no immediate help available when it came time for them to use their 26th overall pick.

"He had the highest amount of potential at 26 of anyone left in the draft by far," McHale said.
