Kevin Freeman, who has blossomed as a three-point shooter and two-way player after stints in Italy and Australia, will get the opportunity to impress Doc Rivers at the Orlando summer league next week. Freeman will play for the Magic's summer team July 8-12 after being recommended by his United States Basketball League coach, Rivers' former Knicks teammate John Starks.

"I see a guy with a lot of determination and the ability to play at the next level because of the intensity he brings," Starks said while working with Freeman at Westchester. "I think he's the kind of guy Doc will like. He can post up and he's showed that he can be an outside guy, too."

Freeman led Westchester in scoring (16.2 ppg) and was second in the USBL in three-point shooting (19-for-44, 43.9 percent). Freeman said he returned to America after playing in Australia "because I want to get back on the radar screen."

The former UConn forward said this summer "might be my last shot at [making] it here. My game is the best that it's been. I had to adjust my game coming out of school. All the work I have put in on my jumper shows now after two years."
