The Knicks released the roster for their summer league team yesterday, and it was notable more for who was missing than for who was on it.

The Knicks had hoped that their two second-round draft picks, Maciej Lampe and Slavko Vranes, would join the summer league team. But neither player was on the roster because each is trying buy out his contract from his European team.

As expected, however, the Knicks? first-round pick, forward Mike Sweetney of Georgetown, signed his contract yesterday and will be with the team when rookie camp begins tomorrow. He will play with the team in the Reebok Pro Summer League in Boston and in the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City the next week.

Sweetney, the No. 9 pick over all, signed a guaranteed three-year, $5.9 million deal. The Knicks hold an option for a fourth year at about $2.7 million.
