Although the Milwaukee Bucks have talked up their current youth movement, second-year center Jamal Sampson will not be part of it.

The Bucks waived Sampson on Thursday before the start of their third summer league game in Orlando.

Sampson was a second-round pick of the Orlando Magic in the 2002 NBA draft, then acquired by the Bucks for the draft rights to Rashard Griffith.

He played just one season at the University of California, making the Pacific-10 all-freshman team, before declaring himself eligible for the draft.

Although he spent most of the 2002-'03 season on the injured list, Sampson did appear in five games, playing eight minutes. He did not score in two field goal attempts and had two rebounds.
