CHICAGO (AP) _ Philadelphia 76ers forward Kenny Thomas injured his lower back midway through the third quarter of Friday night's game with the Chicago Bulls and was not expected to return.

Thomas bruised his back while fighting for a rebound. Thomas was escorted to the locker room.

He is averaging 15 points and 8.6 rebounds in five games. He had four points and two rebounds before being injured.
