DALLAS (AP) Dallas rookie guard Josh Howard left Saturday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a strained left hamstring.

It was not immediately clear how Howard suffered the injury, but he left the game with 2:42 remaining in the third quarter and was escorted to the locker room early in the fourth. The team said he was not expected to return.

Howard scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
