TRACY GETS THE BOOT

Orlando star Tracy McGrady was ejected Friday night against Denver after twice punting the ball into the stands. McGrady, upset that there was no foul call on his layup attempt late in the first half, kicked the ball deep into the arena's lower bowl. When a fan tossed the ball back on the court, McGrady grabbed it and again kicked it into the stands.

SCREECHING HALT

Rasheed Wallace's debut with the Detroit Pistons was brought to an abrupt halt. After playing 12 minutes in the first half Friday night against Minnesota, Wallace was forced to sit out the second half because necessary paperwork was not received by the NBA. Wallace scored four points on 2-of-6 shooting and had two rebounds.

STREAKS

Nets coach Lawrence Frank extended his NBA record for most wins to start a coaching career to 11 with New Jersey's 91-72 victory over Toronto on Friday night. The Nets have won a team-record 12 straight games.

FINED

Los Angeles Lakers guard Gary Payton and Golden State guard Speedy Claxton were fined by the NBA on Friday for fighting. Payton was fined $15,000 and Claxton $7,500 for the fight Wednesday night.
