Isiah Thomas has plans to meet with Lakers Superstar Kobe Bryant and the Chicago Bull's Jamal Crawford. He will also be watching the Rasheed Wallace situation play out in Detroit.
Two of the three (Kobe and Wallace) are practically out of the picture as the Knicks only have a $5 midlevel exception to spend but the Knicks President still plans on trying.
"You've got to go fishing," Thomas said Tuesday as the Knicks began summer league practice. "If guys are out there floating around, my job is to go see."
Thomas will meet with Crawford this week in New York, and Bryant in California when the Knicks go to Long Beach over the weekend for summer league games. But Thomas called his chances of getting Bryant "less than zero."
"Chances are we're not going to sign Kobe," Thomas said. "I hope it happens, but I don't see how this would happen."
As for Wallace, Thomas said, "Detroit's totally in the driver's seat."
