It seems another J Williams is making a run to return to the NBA. Jayson Williams, the former Nets star and rebounding guru who was forced to retire in 1997 with a bad back and consequently found himself in calamitous legal trouble involving the shooting of his limo driver, was seen scrimmaging with Clippers star Elton Brand and two other players at Basketball City the other night.
Between scrimmages, Williams kept active by running wind sprints. Screenwriter Penny Marshall stopped by after watching a match at the U.S. Open to see them play. "He's trying to get back in shape for a comeback," said our source. Williams and Brand were back the next day to continue the workout.
