Luol Deng last just 37 seconds in Tuesday night's loss to the Houston Rockets 119-89.

On a drive to the basket, Deng stepped on Yao Ming's foot and fell to the ground, where he remained for several minutes.

Team officials said Deng has a sprained ankle. The rookie forward didn't return to the bench.

X-rays were negative and a magnetic resonance imaging test is scheduled for Wednesday. Tedeschi called the injury "a significant sprain" but said further testing is needed before they determine the length of Deng's absence.

"It's starting to feel better already, so hopefully it's not that bad," said Deng, who walked on crutches afterward. "The pain hurt a lot, but it's going down a bit now."
