With Chicago finally turning around their fortunes on the court and no trades made on the deadline, it appeared that retaining Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler was a given by the Bulls.  Not so fast says owner Jerry Reinsdorf.

Reinsdorf took a different tone during a Thursday morning interview on WSCR-AM 670's "The Mike North Show."

North: "I know Eddy Curry is averaging 15 points. I know he's still young. I still don't understand how he'll go games with one rebound or three rebounds. ? Are you leery that if you give him big money, he may revert to what he was in terms of being out of shape and not getting the job done?"

"First of all, I don't know where it's written that he's going to get big money," Reinsdorf replied. "Let's wait and see what happens. You're always nervous when you give any athlete big money and a lot of years. There isn't a good track record in sports for players with long-term contracts, so you're always nervous. But sometimes you're forced to do it because of market conditions."

GM John Paxson, however, fully expects to sign the once proclaimed 'teen tots' to long term deals.

"That's a given," Paxson said. "Whether they choose to go out and get an offer sheet (the Bulls can match), I don't want that to happen. I think they want to be here. I expect us to sit down and negotiate and get a deal done that's good for them and good for us."
