Richard Jefferson began working out as Nets' practice was winding down on Tuesday.

"It's like riding a bike. You never forget how to do it," Jefferson said. "It feels so good to get out here and shoot the ball."

In addition to some physical therapy, he is only allowed to shoot baskets.

"[Jefferson] wants to get right back in there," said Nets' GM Ed Stefanski, who was on hand yesterday. "I've talked with him and explained that he cannot rush back. But you know Richard. Who knows how much of that he heard? That's why we love him."

"I can't push it. I'm just gonna continue working out and hope that I can get back out there as soon as possible," Jefferson said. "One positive is that I'm about a week or so ahead of schedule."

"It was great to see [Jefferson] out there with us," Jason Kidd said. "But we need to focus on the upcoming games right now. He's not even close to being ready. So we need to go out there with what we have and start up a winning streak."
