The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that they have hired David Miller as an assistant coach. Miller joins Darrell Walker, Jim Cleamons and Kenny Gattison on the staff of Head Coach Byron Scott.
"David will be an integral part of improving our team and helping me get them to the next level," said Scott. "He brings over 18 years of coaching to our team, so I am anxious for him to impart that knowledge to our players."
Miller brings 18 years of professional and collegiate coaching experience to the Hornets bench. His last coaching position was at The University of Southern California where he served as then Head Coach Henry Bibby's top assistant. Miller helped lead the Trojans to an appearance in the Elite Eight in the 2001 NCAA Tournament, where they fell to Duke, 78-69. Miller coached at USC for five seasons (1996-2001) and helped recruit nationally ranked classes to USC. During his time, the Trojans made the NCAA Tournament twice (1997 and 2001) and the NIT Tournament once (1999).
