The Orlando Magic and 3,000 fans on Saturday night delighted in Dwight Howard's power dunks, Steve Francis' nifty spin moves and Grant Hill's versatile play menu.

But perhaps the most welcome display in an intrasquad scrimmage for the Magic was put on by a guy who isn't a regular on the SportsCenter highlight reels.

Pat Garrity never is going to wow the 18-34 demographic with his game.

He's slow, has no vertical leap worth measuring and looks better-suited for the peach-basket era.

But when Garrity is hitting jump shots -- a vastly underdeveloped, unappreciated art in the NBA -- his value soars, and he is a popular figure.

In Saturday night's scrimmage, Garrity nailed 7-of-13 shots, including a team-leading four 3-pointers, for 22 points.

"You can't help but have a smile on your face when Pat Garrity is hitting shots," Magic Assistant General Manager Otis Smith said.

"It's a welcome sight because it takes the pressure off the inside game and plays into what Brian wants to do."
