The Knicks appear to be on the verge of signing the 24-year-old small forward Qyntel Woods.

In 2002, Woods was drafted at number 21 by the Portland Trailblazers out of junior college and he finished last season as a member of the Heat.  Woods has been suspended for violating the league's substance-abuse policy and another time after an incident involving one of his pit bull dogs.  He was sentenced to probation after being charged with animal abuse.

Woods is expected to join the team for Tuesday's pre-game shoot-around in Seattle.  The Knicks waived small forward Matt Barnes recently.
