Grant Hill is recovering from surgery to repair a sports hernia and it appears that he'll return on Wednesday.

Magic Coach Brian Hill indicated that Grant would back up Hedo Turkoglu at small forward until he is ready for major minutes.

"I don't think that would be fair to him," Brian Hill said of starting Hill. "It might depend on when he comes back."

Instead of adjusting to a new role, Hill, though, said he'd prefer to wait until he can be healthy enough to rediscover his rhythm as a starter.

He said coming off the bench "will be tough. I've never done that before. . . . At this point, I just want to play. I'll be the human victory cigar," Hill said, laughing, referring to players who mop up games that have long been decided.

"But I'd like to get to a point -- if it's Saturday or Wednesday or whenever -- to where if I'm ready, I'm ready. Where coach is not looking at putting me in in a reserve role, he's looking at it like, 'Grant's back, he's ready to go."
