Pending more medical results, Orlando Magic forward Grant Hill will test his groin area today during a light practice in Portland, Ore., to see whether he can play soon.
The Magic will face the Trail Blazers on Friday night.
Hill underwent magnetic resonance imaging in Seattle on Wednesday morning, and the results were sent to his doctor in Philadelphia, William Meyers.
Meyers repaired Hill's sports hernia Oct. 31.
Hill returned six weeks later, but he has missed four of the past five games because of pain in the area.
"Grant had an MRI [Wednesday] as a precautionary measure," Magic Coach Brian Hill said. "He wants to check out the abdominal area.
"We're going to get him out on the floor [today]. He wants to get out there and do a little bit of work to see how it feels."
Hill likely will not play Friday night or perhaps the entire West trip, which will end Sunday night in Sacramento against the Kings.
