Minnesota Timberwolves guard Troy Hudson won't have season-ending surgery on his right ankle for now.

Hudson indicated Wednesday that another operation on the ankle was imminent. But his agent, Bill Neff, said Friday that they were looking for a better way to treat it.

"Surgery will not improve the range of motion enough," Neff said.

Hudson, who initially hurt the ankle in a 2003 preseason game and hasn't been the same since, has missed the last seven games.

The biggest problem isn't so much the soreness, but stiffness. Unable to push off and move side-to-side the way he should, Hudson hasn't been able to maximize his quickness.

"He'll deal with the pain," Neff said. "He wants to be able to cut on people."
