The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that Larry Brown will report to work today, but he still is unsure of his status as head coach of the New York Knicks.
"He's going to work," said Brown's agent, Joe Glass. "I assume he is. He's the coach of the Knicks. Nothing has changed."
According to a person close to Brown, who was granted anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak publicly on the situation, the coach spent the weekend at his East Hampton, L.I., home trying to find out if he is going to be terminated today. Brown is still yearning for a meeting with Knicks owner James Dolan to learn his fate.
Brown has received messages from people inside the organization, including general manager Isiah Thomas, about today's amateur workouts, but it is believed he hasn't spoken directly to anyone since news broke that the Knicks are strongly considering firing him.
The man he really wants to talk to is Dolan, but the owner is not planning to be at the training center today. Dolan is expected to meet with Brown sometime soon, perhaps in the next few days, at which point the coach's fate will likely be decided. But Dolan won't meet with Brown until he's ready.
