Paul Pierce's agent Jeff Schwartz is trying to work out a contract extension for the Celtics' franchise player.

Pierce, who has spent his entire career with the Celtics, has two years remaining on his current contract, but he can opt out of it and become a free agent next summer.

?Put it this way: Paul wouldn?t have me talking with the Celtics unless he wanted to be there,? Schwartz said. ?He?s been in Boston his whole career, and he?s obviously a very competitive person. But he wants to win up there."

Pierce has been very vocal recently about adding a second star to the team, with Allen Iverson being the primary target.
