A pair of Pac-10 victories kept UCLA a near-unanimous choice as the nation's top college basketball team in the latest AP rankings released Monday.

UCLA (13-0) received 71 of 72 first-place votes and 1,799 points from a panel of writers and broadcasters.

The Bruins received a scare Thursday before rallying for a victory over Washington State. Two days later, they coasted to a triumph over Washington.

The other first-place vote again went to North Carolina (12-1), which extended its winning streak to nine games. The Tar Heels, who have 1,721 points, posted lopsided wins over Rutgers and Dayton last week.
