Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King announced tonight that after receiving a second opinion from Dr. Michelle Carlson, an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, center Steven Hunter will not require surgery on his left fifth finger.

Hunter will not play against Washington on Wednesday, Feb. 14, and will return to the Sixers lineup after the NBA All-Star Break wearing a splint on his left fifth finger. He will continue to wear an extension splint for six weeks when not playing.
