The NBA obviously has bigger issues on its plate with a referee allegedly wagering on games, but it did launch an investigation, too, over Ryan Gomes? comments after the Celtics had clinched the second-worst record.

Gomes? words were taken by some as an admission that the Celts deliberately tanked games, but the league found them unfortunate even if innocent. And commissioner David Stern has since allowed that he, too, would be looking at younger players if he were running a team that was out of the playoff chase.

Said Gomes, ?They called me on my home phone. We did a conference call and they taped it. We ran through what was said. I just told them the things that were said weren?t meant to be taken that we were out there trying to lose. I told them that whenever I was in the game or any of us were out there we were trying to perform for our team and for ourselves. I?m not going to go out there and try to miss 10 shots or turn the ball over 10 times. Our intentions were not to lose.?

According to Gomes, he was speaking with someone from the security department.
