Lakers coach Phil Jackson was reprimanded by the NBA on Wednesday for comments he made following his team's loss one night earlier.

Following a 107-92 loss at San Antonio on Tuesday night, Jackson attempted to explain his team's defense - or lack thereof - in allowing the Spurs to penetrate the lane at will and then pass the ball out for uncontested 3-pointers.

San Antonio connected on 13-of-27 shots from the arc.

"We call this a 'Brokeback Mountain' game, because there's so much penetration and kickouts," Jackson said.

When Jackson made the initial comment following Tuesday's game, it drew hearty laughter from the media, a point he seemed to emphasize during his apology.

"I want to thank all the TV people and journalists who thought it was humorous in the moment," Jackson said. "In retrospect, it wasn't really funny. When you take it out of context, it wasn't funny. It's a poor attempt at humor and I deserve to be reprimanded by the NBA.

"I said to them if I've offended any horses, Texans, cowboys or guys, I apologize. It's societal and we have to understand as coaches some people can do it, and some can't."
