Representatives for Jermaine O'Neal confirmed on Wednesday that he will not opt out of his contract with the Indiana Pacers, according to The Indianapolis Star.

O'Neal, who has two years with $44 million left on his deal, holds an early-termination option.

The deadline to opt out is June 30, but the team never expected O'Neal to do so.

In February Larry Bird seemed to believe that he would remain in Indiana, and newly-crowned GM David Morway confirmed to RealGM last month that the team didn't expect him to opt out.
