The Knicks are hoping that Jerome James will retire and allow them to relieve some of the salary cap issues, according to The New York Daily News.

The team is reportedly trying to convince him to retire because of his recent medical woes. He had left knee surgery last November.

However, James, who will earn $12.8 million over the next two years, plans to play next season and is even considering joining a group of veterans for voluntary workouts this weekend in Las Vegas.
