The Celtics have signed former first-round pick Patrick O'Bryant to a two-year deal, according to The Boston Herald.
"I thought he had a fantastic workout with us," said President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. "The coaches were all really excited about the possibility of working with him."
The deal is rumored to be worth the league minimum, which leaves Boston's full midlevel exception to use when trying to retain coveted free agent James Posey.
"Everybody brings something different to the table, and we really like Patrick?s potential for us," Ainge added. "We?ve looked at him and watched a lot of tape. We feel like he?s got a very good upside, and we think he can help us now with his length and his skill. When we finished his workout and convened, all the coaches were excited about the chance that he would be with our team."
O'Bryant was taken with the ninth overall pick by the Warriors in 2006, but appeared in just 40 games for Golden State, averaging 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest.
